Cydney Puro was born and raised in Santa Monica, California. She received her BA in Photography from Bard College, where she was mentored by Stephen Shore. Cydney has been working on an ongoing project exploring lesser known islands. This adventure has taken her to such exotic locales as the Finnish Archipelago - home to the Islands Korpo, Utö, Jurmo, Nagu, and thousands more; Olkhon Island in Siberia, and the autonomous Faroe Islands of Denmark - where she documented the ancient ritual known as the grindadráp, published in the the New York Times Magazine.
Cydney's work has been published in the New York Times Magazine, ain't bad, NYLON, HUMANITY by CITIZENS OF HUMANITY, and 0 -100 editions, among others and has been included in exhibitions at the Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica, CA; Robert Berman Gallery, Santa Monica, CA; Smack Mellon, Brooklyn, NY; and the Photographic museum of Humanity and others.
Puro divides her time between Los Angeles and New York
